Introducing My Curated Seed Collection With West Coast Seeds
I’m beyond excited to be sharing the details and stories behind some of my fav seeds in my new curated collection with West Coast Seeds. This is truly a pinch me moment! And probably not something I would have imagined 5-10 years ago. As a true fan of WCS, I’m honoured to be involved with this project! So let me walk you through everything you need to know and why I selected each of these seeds.
The Backstory – A Seed Company For The Modern Grower
It was about 10 years ago when I first stumbled upon the West Coast Seeds (WCS) website.
It was mid-Winter, freezing outside and I was longing to be back in the garden…as us Northern gardeners typically do.
As my laptop loaded their site, I was immediately drawn to the WCS messaging. Their clear commitment to quality, education and sustainability spoke to me.
But further to that, the packaging was…SO CUTE!
I felt like I had finally found a seed company that was designed with a young gardener like me in mind.
Fast forward to 2025 and my love for WCS has only grown.
Their diverse selection of vegetable, flower and herb seeds make up the majority of my garden every season.
I’ve come to know their team members through email and social engagement. And they’ve continued to graciously support From Soil to Soul through workshop donations, collaborative content and giveaways.
I’ve even been lucky enough to be part of their trial seeds program! Where I get exclusive access to new seeds they haven’t yet released to the public.
Just the coolest!
So it goes without saying that when WCS asked if I’d be interested in putting together a curated collection of my all time fav seeds, it was an absolute YES.
If you’ve had enough of me and just want to seed shop, then head on over to my curated collection linked here!
But if you want the backstory on why I selected some of these seeds specifically, keep reading on.
A Behind-The-Scenes Look At The From Soil to Soul x West Coast Seeds Curated Collection
Here’s a look at a few of the veggie, flower and herb seeds I’ve added to this collection for you!
These are my tried and true varieties that I love coming back to each season.
Here’s why these seeds made my list!
Best West Coast Seeds Veggie Varieties For A Zone 3 Garden
Sweet Million Cherry Tomatoes
If you follow me on Instagram, you have certainly seen me post about my love for Sweet Million Cherry Tomatoes.
They even made it on my Official List Of Fav Tomato Varieties of 2023.
They are true to their name and absolutely prolific!
These cherry tomatoes do well planted in either large containers (I suggest using these fabric 30 gallon grow bags) or in the ground.
If you live in a Zone 2-5 climate, this is a great cherry tomato for you! And one that will be producing fruit in just 65 days.
This makes Sweet Millions an ideal cherry tomato for Northern growers.
California Wonder Bell Peppers
Finding a bell pepper variety that produces more than 2-4 fruit per plant can be tough. I know you know what I’m talking about!
Bell peppers can be a tricky one even for the most experienced cold climate growers.
But over the years I have had great success with this variety from WCS, California Wonder Bell Peppers.
Get your hands on these seeds and then follow my Ultimate Guide To Growing Great Hot & Bell Peppers In A Short Growing Season and you’ll be laughing!
Giant Winter Organic Spinach
Spinach is my one of my fav veggies to grow in a cold climate.
It’s often the first annual I get in the ground in the Spring and the last in the Fall.
This variety, Giant Winter Organic Spinach is my fav for a few reasons;
- First, the leaf size is huge!
- Secondly, they are really cold tolerant. So make for a great shoulder season crop.
- You can easily get two maybe even three harvests from one sowing.
I definitely recommend giving this WCS spinach variety a shot in your cold climate garden!

Best West Coast Seeds Flower Varieties For A Zone 3 Garden
Queeny Lime Orange Zinnias
I love, love, love growing zinnias here in my Zone 3 garden.
They are easy to grow and do well if started indoors or direct sow’d after your last frost date.
And so I actually have two different varieties that made it on this list.
These Queeny Lime Orange Zinnias (pictured above) and the Giant Blue Point Formula Zinnias.
Both are great additions in a Northern flower garden.
So do check them out and see which flower better suits your style. Or better yet, grow both!
Apricotta Cosmos
My love for cosmos grows deeper with each gardening season.
Gardeners are often surprised when I tell them that I’m able to grow +6ft tall cosmo plants by just sprinkling the seeds on the soil’s surface after my last frost date.
It’s really that easy!
This Apricotta Cosmo variety by WCS makes my list not only because it’s easy to grow here in Zone 3. But also because of its unique colour.
This is the perfect addition to a soft, muted bouquet of flowers.
Mammoth Blend Sweet Peas
If you are brand new to flower growing might I recommend starting with a sweet pea variety like this Mammoth Blend?
They are really quite easy to grow despite what you might think!
You can follow my Complete Guide to Growing Sweet Peas for exact growing specifications on this flower.
But the main reason I had to add these Mammoth Blend Sweet Peas to my WCS collection is because of how massive the plants get.
If properly cared for, you can definitely expect flowers that exceed +6ft tall! And who doesn’t want that?

Best West Coast Seeds Herb Varieties For A Zone 3 Garden
Borage
I knew I had to add borage to my WCS collection because of how wonderful it does in a Zone 3 garden.
But further to that, because of how much the bees adore it!
If you have struggled with attracting pollinators to your garden, definitely try adding borage.
I guarantee you’ll see more bees and butterflies in no time.
Plus, borage flowers and leaves are edible!
I love putting the delicate flowers into ice cubes and adding them to cocktails for a fun touch.
While the leaves have a mild cucumber flavour and add a touch of freshness to salads.
Wild Bergamot
Bergamot is another herb I knew had to be featured in my WCS collection because it thrives as a perennial in Zone 3.
Once established, it will come back year after year.
This has been true even after our harshest Winters with temperatures dipping below -30°C consistently.
Plus bergamot is another one pollinators adore! And the flowers make a whimsical addition to cut flower bouquets.
So much to love about wild bergamot!
Santo Long Standing Cilantro
Okay, Santo Cilantro has been my go-to cilantro variety for the last few years.
And when I discovered WCS had this ‘Long Standing’ variety, I knew it would be even better.
Why?
Because it’s bolt resistant! That means the extreme heat we often experience in the middle of summer in Canada won’t affect this cilantro.
It’s a variety I knew I would add to my collection from the get-go. And one I hope you add to your herb garden too!
