Hey Gardener, I’m Maggie
I’m so glad you’ve found your way here!
I’m a Canadian gardener from the Manitoba Prairies (Zone 3b). A passionate plant mama. A backyard chicken-keeper. The co-host of The Grow Guide podcast. And the founder of From Soil to Soul.
Growing my own food became a key part of my life in 2016. That year, my now husband surprised me with a greenhouse for my birthday.
I knew very little about gardening and naively jumped in head first. But right away, I fell completely in love.
Since then, we’ve expanded our garden, added chickens to our homestead, built dozens of raised beds, created a three-bay composting system and built a new greenhouse…with at least a dozen other projects in there I’m sure I’m missing!
When I’m Not In The Garden…
You’ll likely still find me on our little Prairie homestead with my husband, Justin, our dog Pepper and daughter Lucy.
Though I grew up a city slicker, country living makes me feel more at home than anything else.
I love spending time outside hiking and exploring the trails near our home. I’m also a lover of yoga, running, Peloton and pilates.
Justin and I are always tackling a new project, both in and out of the garden. We love home renos and DIYs. You’ll likely find us enjoying a cocktail while working on something of the sort.
What else can I tell you about myself?
Well I’m a bit of a tea addict. Green tea please. I love travelling and spent some time in India and South-East Asia in my early 20s. And my background is in marketing & communications.
I’m also an avid cook and love creating new, healthy, plant-based recipes using my garden harvest. Many of which you’ll find here on the blog!
