Fa la la la la la I don’t like baking….but I always feel like I need to bake around the holidays. You too? I’ve got you covered! These are recipes from top-rated plant-based bakers who know what they’re doing. I tested these recipes last holiday season and voted the ones in this list as my favs!
Put your hand up if you’re a Manitoban that refers to holiday baking/desserts as “dainties” (*puts hand up*).
Yes, it’s true — we Prairie folk call Christmas baking dainties. I’ve been doing it myself for years without ever thinking anything of it. That is until last year when I asked a friend who was visiting from the East Coast what her favourite dainty is. She looked at me like I had personally offended her. And since then I’ve never been able to look at the word the same myself. Oh dainties. This is only one of the many ‘isms unique to MB.
Regardless, whether you say dainties or desserts, these easy vegan holiday baking recipes are ones you’ll feel proud to serve at your Christmas party. Celebrating the holidays is all about eating delicious food and there’s no reason your holiday baking can’t be vegan.
While you’re here, be sure to browse the other vegan recipes I have on the blog!
Without further ado, here’s my round-up of tested and loved easy vegan holiday baking recipes:
1. The Best Vegan Sugar Cookies by Nora Cooks Vegan
Soft in the middle and crispy on the edges – these really are the BEST vegan sugar cookies out there. The dough is incredibly easy to make and rolls out nicely after kept in the fridge for an hour or so. The icing gets super shiny and glossy by adding a bit of corn syrup. These vegan sugar cookies are a stunner in your holiday cookie box.
2. Vegan Twix Bars by Half Baked Harvest
This easy-to-make and indulgent vegan dessert will blow you way. The bars are made of two layers, the first is a coconut shortbread/biscuit and the second is a creamy maple-based caramel. These are rich and creamy. Drizzle them with a little extra dark chocolate and sea salt and you have a gourmet-looking vegan holiday dessert.
3. Vegan Peanut Butter Truffles (PB Chocolate Balls) by Ela Vegan
The perfect bite-sized addition to your holiday “dainty” tray. These peanut butter truffles might be my favourite of them all. The centre is creamy and sweet while the dark chocolate shell is crunchy. Plus, these are a dairy-free and gluten-free holiday dessert. You can’t go wrong!
4. Vegan Thumbprint Jam Cookies by Vegan Huggs
A classic holiday cookie that will please all your guests. What I love about this recipe is that the cookie dough doesn’t crack when baked. They hold their form and keep the jam in the center. Plus, you don’t need an electric mixer to make this recipe. Doing it all by hand works perfectly fine!
5. Vegan Chewy Ginger Cookies by Nora Cooks Vegan
A ginger cookie recipe that is actually chewy. These are so addictive. Another classic holiday dessert made vegan. And you’ll never be able to tell the difference. Nora Cooks Vegan says she’s tested this recipe again and again to get it just right. I found under cooking them slightly is key to getting that perfect chewiness.
6. Vegan Pecan Bars by Wholesome Deliciousness
You can check all the boxes with this recipe. Not only are these pecan bars vegan, they’re also paleo and gluten-free. And absolutely delicious. I love how chewy and dense they are. This recipe doesn’t call for vegan chocolate chips, but you could certainly add them in. Oh, and they only take 30 minutes to bake too! So easy!
There you have it!
Those are my favourite easy vegan holiday baking recipes that I’ve tested and can confirm are all delicious.
